Oakleaf Village of Sylvania was named Best Assisted Living Center in the 2026 M Living Readers’ Choice Awards! This serves as another meaningful honor as it also celebrates 40 years this year.
Oakleaf Village’s recognition is part of a broader celebration among Wallick Senior Living’s three Sylvania communities, with The Crescent at Oakleaf Village and The Grove at Oakleaf Village also receiving honors this year.
A Welcoming Place and a Sense of Connection
One of the first things team members notice about Oakleaf Village of Sylvania is its energy. Program Director Danielle Ballesteros described it simply: “As soon as you walk in the door, there’s life.”
Residents and associates are visible and active, creating a welcoming space that feels different from a typical lobby area. That energy carries into everyday life through friendships, activities and a constant sense of connection, while maintaining opportunities for residents to enjoy quiet and reflective moments, too.
Personalized care is another important part of the community’s approach. Team members focus on what gives each resident purpose, from familiar routines to meaningful roles and opportunities to contribute. Families are also encouraged to share concerns, and the team is laser-focused on ensuring responsiveness and follow-through.
A Celebration of the People Behind the Award
Being named Best Assisted Living Center reflects the residents, families and dedicated team members who make Oakleaf Village of Sylvania special.
Reflecting on the awards across the Sylvania communities, Danielle said the recognition reminded her why she entered the profession and reflected a return to the shared goal of making the communities feel like home, not simply places for long-term care.
Sales Specialist Dena Marvin described the recognition as a proud moment built on “hard work and dedication” and said, “I think it’s family.”
Oakleaf Village’s honor joins two awards for The Crescent at Oakleaf Village—Best Senior Living Community and Best Premier Dining in a Senior Living Community—and The Grove at Oakleaf Village’s Best Memory Care Center award, bringing the Sylvania communities’ total to four.
